The much anticipated 22nd FIFA World Cup, Qatar 2022 has started and fans have been thrilled with spectacular performances, shocking results, and incredible goals.
It is the first time in FIFA World Cup history that the tournament will be held in winter from 21 November to 18 December 2022, outside the usual summer dates June-July.
But this has not stopped the fun and the quality on the display by participating countries at all the venues.
After watching all the 32 participating teams play at least one game each, it is now much easier to pick five teams that would most likely win it all.
Here are SportsRation‘s top five teams to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The Three Lions are on paper one of the best teams in Qatar. They are stacked in all departments on the field and this was shown in their first game.
They trashed Iran 6-2 and had five different goal-scorers on the day. The squad depth was on display at the Al Bayt Stadium.
Just imagine replacing Mason Mount, Raheem Sterling, Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka, Jude Bellingham, and Harry Maguire with the likes of Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Callum Wilson, Marcus Rashford, Jordan Henderson and Eric Dier.
It definitely can’t get any better.
The Seleção das Quinas are one of the best teams in Qatar, like England, they have great depth and they are captained by the great Cristiano Ronaldo.
Although they struggled in their first game against Ghana winning by a slim margin 3-2, they are still one of the favourites.
I mean, they have Cristiano Ronaldo, Rafael Leao who is one of the best wingers in the world at the moment, watching the Milan player play with a smile on his face reminds one of Ronaldinho Gaucho.
In the defence there is Joao Cancelo, who is one of the best right and left backs in the world, there is Rúben Dias who is one of the best defenders in the world.
Portugal have game-winners, and squad depth and are led by a serial winner, Cristiano Ronaldo.
La Furia Roja has a blend of youthfulness, experience and old players. They scored 7-0 against Costa Rica in their first game, the highest score at the World Cup since Germany beat Saudi Arabia 8-0 in 2002.
Spain have the 2021, and 2022 Golden Boy winners Pedri, and Gavi in their rank. They have players from Barcelona who are already used to playing with each other.
In their first game in Qatar 2022 six of the players in the starting XI were Barcelona players; captain [player 185480], Gavi, Pedri, [player 185530], and Ferran Torres.
This could play a huge role in determining how far they can go.
Les Bleus are the defending champions, and definitely one of the favourites to win the 2022 World Cup again.
Despite missing important players like Ngolo Kante, and [player 1992] who played big roles in 2018 when they won it, they are still many bookies’ favourites.
Not forgetting they are also without the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner, Karim Benzema who has been battling with injuries this season.
In fact, they are missing five key players Ngolo Kante, Karim Benzema, Paul Pogba, Christopher Nkuku, and Lucas Hernandez, who would start for all the teams playing in Qatar this tournament.
But they are still stacked in all areas and favourite still. They have a matured Kylian Mbappe, he was only 19 when he led France to the trophy in 2018.
Theo Hernandez is definitely one of the best three left-backs in the world. They beat Australia 4-1 in their first Group game, in the game, [player 5270371] and Adrien Rabiot showed they can be relied upon in the absence of Ngolo Kante and Paul Pogba.
It doesn’t matter where the competition is held, (even in your backyard in front of your folks) The Seleção will always be the favourite and most supported.
Their style, the flamboyance, players, skills and rich history will always make them the favourite at any competition.
Led by the 38-year-old Thaigo Silva in the defence, and Neymar Jr. in the attack, Brazil are one of many bookmakers and pundits to claim it all.
They were outstanding in their first game against the tough Serbia. They were really tested and they scaled through in flying colours scoring one of the best goal at Qatar 2022 so far in the process.
There are too many individual stars who can decide any tough game for them, Vinicius Jr., Neymar Jr., Rapinha, Richarlison, Paqueta, and Casemiro.
They are so stacked that inform Arsenal duo Gabriel Jesus, and Martinelli are only bench players, United winger Anthony is also playing from the bench. Adenor Leonardo Bacchi can decide to play two different teams and still win the tournament. They are that complete. Who do you think will win the 2022 FIFA World Cup?
