What did Grealish say?
In his first press conference as a Man City player, Grealish said, “It was so tough. I think everyone knows I reported back for pre-season as I was meant to, I went back for a few days.”
“It was difficult. In the back of my head I knew I might be going. I did a bit on my own… everyone saw how Messi was yesterday – that’s exactly the way I felt. Before I left at the hotel I spoke to the team and the staff and the players and I teared up a little bit myself.
“I felt like it was time for me to move on. I’ve always said how much I want to play [league 2] football. They have a football club here that has got so much potential. They’re the most successful English side in the last 10 years. It felt the right time.”
“I’ve been a Villa fan since I was four, my whole family has, I went to the club when I was six. There will always be links there, especially with the big family I have, everyone is Villa fans.
“At the end of the day I’m a City player now and will concentrate on being so successful here. I’ve come here to win silverware.”
Grealish on his huge transfer fees
When asked about the pressure he is under due to his big-money move, the former [team 15] captain said, “It probably hasn’t sunk in,” he said. “It means so much to me that the club were willing to spend that much on me, it fills me with confidence.
“There’s no pressure on that price tag, it shows how much the manager values me.”
“It doesn’t put any pressure on me, I take that as a compliment, I like it, it’s a good tag to have.
Grealish will be key for City’s strong start to the season
With [player 1116] now being a City player, it’s a squad with absolute brilliance in every single position. When looked beyond the starting eleven, even the second-string team can challenge for the [league 8].
However, despite all of that optimism, [team 9] are going through a period where some of their players are injured and some are out of form. [player 1371]’s fitness status is a big question are [player 802]’s form last season was horrible. [player 96353] is another highly talented player who could leave before the window closes. Also, [player 5329] won’t be available for the first couple of weeks.
With a lot of players unsure about their situation and some injured, Grealish will have to start the season on fire to make sure that City don’t leave themselves with too much to do after ten games.
[coach 455361] might play him down the left or as a false nine, but the Spaniard will have to make sure that he gets the best out of him quickly. Without any doubt, City have an embarrassment of riches in their squad but a poor start to the season could be detrimental to the club’s potential failure in the League.
