How did the game pan out?
[team 6] visited Turf Moor for a Monday night game against winless [team 27]. Coming into the game, Burnley winless in their last 4 games with only one point on the board. On the other hand, Tottenham were coming here after that abysmal last ten minutes against [team 1].
The first half was all about Tottenham as far as possession is concerned. Despite having 65% of the ball in the first half, Tottenham were struggling to create anything. However, Burnley looked more threatening while attacking as they relied on the hold-up play of [player 914] and kept thumping the ball long. Despite being non-dominant, Burnley took 5 shots with 2 on target in the first half compared to Tottenham 3 with nothing worrying [player 2763]’s goal. Improvement was needed in the second from the away side as talisman [player 997] recorded only a single touch in Burnley’s 18-yard-box.
The second half started with a similar overview until Jose made a positive change by bringing on Lamela and calling Lucas off. Tottenham began to move the ball quicker and play more risky passes. It was the 76’ when all the hard work finally counted as [player 4313] scored a far-post header assisted by Harry Kane by flicking the header from a corner. The duo’s awesome partnership continues to help Spurs get points. Amazingly, This was already Harry Kane’s seventh assist to Son this season. A first clean sheet of the campaign was also registered to boost Jose’s worrying confidence.
[player 988] had a robust game at the back with getting his head bandaged after a hefty collision. The Belgian registered an impressive 5 clearances throughout the game. He also blocked 3 shots in the process. Alderweierld completed 53 passes and recorded 85.5% accuracy. He was influential in possession by completing 3 long balls, with one of them a lovely elevated ball for Harry Kane, who missed the chance. With this, Alderweierld also registered 1 key pass throughout the 90.
[player 99148] had another eye-catching game. The 23-year-old has had his most consistent spell so far at Tottenham. After so much tension between the two, Ndombele finally looks happy and settled under Jose Mourinho.
Not only mentally but also tactically and statistically, the Frenchman has improved spectacularly. Ndombele completed 40 passes with an accuracy rate of 85.1%. He played 2 long balls as well. He attempted a stunning 6 dribbles and competed half of them. Won 5 ground duals from 9 attempted and also recorded 1 interception.
Still gaining momentum, Ndombele’s potential looks remarkable.
One of Burnley’s most important players is youngster [player 4598726]. The consistently excellent kid had a terrible game last night. His prime asset is his crossing ability, but McNeil did not complete a single cross throughout the game. He completed only 1 dribble and lost possession on 15 occasions, which sums his poor night up. It has been a terrible start to this season by Burnley, and they will need this man to get back on track.
